Subsystems that
survive the
aircraft

The LONGSHORE range covers power, actuation and mission electronics for crewed and uncrewed platforms. We make the parts that have to work in a vibrating, freezing, electrically filthy corner of an airframe.

Position

We are a subsystem house,
not a prime

Fisker does not integrate weapons and does not bid as a prime contractor. We sit in tier two, supplying qualified subsystems to primes and to national research organisations, mostly in the UK and Europe.

The work came out of our space business by accident. A customer needed a power distribution unit that could take 30 g of shock and did not want to wait eighteen months for a new design, so we requalified a spacecraft unit against DO-160G. That was 2017. There are now sixty-one people at Farnborough doing nothing else.

Scope of supply
  • Ruggedised power generation, conversion and distribution
  • Electromechanical actuation for control surfaces and payload bays
  • Mission data recorders and solid-state storage
  • Environmental control for sensor pods
  • Qualification test as a service, against your specification

What we do not do: effectors, guidance for munitions, and anything requiring us to hold a design authority we cannot staff properly.

Qualification evidence is transferable between platforms in the same environmental category, which is usually where a programme saves its money.

Security, clearance
and the paperwork

Our Farnborough site operates as a List X facility. Ninety-four staff hold SC and eleven hold DV. We are JOSCAR registered and hold Cyber Essentials Plus across the business, with the defence unit assessed annually against the Defence Cyber Protection Partnership scheme at Moderate.

  • UK MOD DEFCON-compliant terms, including 658 and 659A
  • Export licensing handled in house, SPIRE and OGEL as appropriate
  • Segregated network and document control for classified programmes
  • Independent airworthiness sign-off via a Part 21J design organisation partner
